Diabetic patients must understand that they have a disorder Nutonen for their entire life. In most cases, there is no cure for diabetes. The patient must learn to live with his disability. He must know the pitfalls and how to avoid them. The two most serious dangers are diabetic ketoacidosis which results from too little insulin or too much food, or perhaps the presence of an infection, and insulin shock which arises from taking too much insulin or too little food.

Common sign of the diabetes are the 3Ps which include the polyuria, polydypsia, polyphagia and weight loss is common. The patient may also manifest to have blurred vision, and slow wound healing. They have also signs of infections such as pyorrhea (periodontal infections), UTI, vasculitis, cellulites, furucles, carbuncles, and vaginal infections. Some patient may also manifest neuropathy, retinopathy and nephropathy.

The major signs in patient with type 1 DM are hyperglycemia there is high blood glucose because from reduced cell uptake and increased release from liver. Glycosuria is also common from high blood levels of glucose. Polyuria which results from hyperglycemia that causes reduction of renal water reabsorption. Weakness, fatigue and weight loss are caused by disordered protein and carbohydrate metabolism. Ketoacidosis is the result of excessive lipid energy metabolism and other metabolic derangement.
