Many veteran players clamor to get to New England Joel Iyiegbuniwe Jersey , thinking it gives them a chance at a ring.

But for at least one younger player, getting out of there might have saved his career.

Now-49ers defensive end Cassius Marsh said he “hated” his time with the Patriots.

鈥淭hey don鈥檛 have fun there. There鈥檚 nothing fun about it. There鈥檚 nothing happy about it. I didn鈥檛 enjoy any of my time there, you know what I鈥檓 saying?” Marsh said, via Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle. “It made me for the first time in my life think about not playing football because I hated it that much.鈥?/p>

Of course, a reasonable response from the Patriots might be that they didn’t enjoy Marsh all that much either, as he had one sack in the nine games he was sentenced there, after they traded a fifth-round pick to the Seahawks for him.

鈥淚 confronted [coach Bill Belichick] about all the things that were going on,鈥?Marsh said. 鈥淚 won鈥檛 get into detail Malik Jefferson Jersey , but it was B.S. things they were doing. I just wasn鈥檛 a fan. And so I, basically, without asking to get cut, I kind of asked to get cut.

“I had confidence that I would have an opportunity elsewhere and I would take advantage of it.鈥?/p>

He did something resembling that, with two sacks and two forced fumbles in six games with the 49ers, and they gave him a two-year contract extension in February. And ostensibly, made him feel happy and valued.

The bottom line does not tell the story of Michael Fulmer’s last start.

The Detroit Tigers right-hander overpowered the Cincinnati Reds for 5 2/3 innings on June 20, holding them scoreless while striking out nine.

Fulmer then gave up back-to-back homers on what he felt were well-located sliders. Scooter Gennett Johnny Unitas Jersey , who badly missed a Fulmer slider earlier in the at-bat, golfed a two-run shot over the right-field wall. Eugenio Suarez followed with a blast over the left-field wall.

Fulmer wound up with his sixth loss of the season.

He’ll hope for some better luck in a Thursday matinee against the Oakland Athletics.

The Tigers will be trying to break an eight-game losing streak after dropping the first three games of the series while Oakland will attempt to get its first four-game sweep of Detroit since 2001.

“Last start, everything was kind of on cruise control and then Gennett hit a good pitch out,” Fulmer said. “But people don’t see the pitch, they see the results. They look at the linescore and that’s it.

“They don’t see that my fastball velo is up, my sinker’s moving more, my slider has been a lot sharper as of late,” Fulmer continued. “That’s the problem from a player’s standpoint and a spectator’s standpoint. ‘Oh Jonathan Bullard Jersey , he gave up two home runs in one inning last start, it wasn’t a very good start.’ Don’t worry about the other five innings where I did really well. Sometimes, people don’t think just to give the hitters credit.”

Fulmer (3-6, 4.17 ERA) limited Minnesota and Cleveland to one run in seven innings in each of his previous two outings. He’s throwing as hard as ever, with his four-seamer and sinker averaging over 97 mph this month.

Other than his changeup being a little faster than he’d like, Fulmer believes he’s in top form.

“I’m not frustrated with the way I pitched or my stuff,” said Fulmer, who is 2-0 with an 0.57 ERA in two career starts against Oakland. “I’m frustrated with the results and that’s the way it’s kind of been for me so far this season. I’m still very positive. I still trust everything Kevin White Jersey , I feel like we’re very close to being dominant for a full game.”

The Tigers could certainly use one of those outings.

Left-hander Sean Manaea (7-6, 3.40 ERA) will oppose Fulmer after having his scheduled start pushed back a day. He has delivered three consecutive quality starts following a rough patch in May. Manaea allowed four or more earned runs in five of his six May starts but he’s held opponents to a combined six runs in his last three outings.

“I was trying to be too perfect and it was causing me to overthink things,” he said. “Now, I’m trying to keep things simple.”

Manaea has walked just one batter in those three starts while collecting 17 strikeouts. He held the Chicago White Sox to one run on five hits in seven innings during his last start. He lost his only career start against Detroit while giving up three runs in six innings.

Oakland’s streak of hitting a homer in 27 consecutive road games, a major league record, ended on Wednesday but it still came away with a 3-0 victory. Jed Lowrie has seven hits in the series, including two homers and two doubles.

Undrafted free agent fullback Ryan Yurachek has signed with the Oakland Raiders.

The team announced his addition Friday Gale Sayers Jersey , and Yurachek is likely to enter training camp as a backup on the depth chart.

Keith Smith is the projected starting fullback for coach Jon Gruden's team. Smith, who joins fullback Jamize Olawale on the roster and is a converted linebacker, played only sparingly on offense with the Cowboys Christian McCaffrey Jersey , but was an important part of the special teams under coordinator Rich Bisaccia, who now holds the same job with the Raiders.

Last month, Yurachek signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Marshall Roger Staubach Jersey , but was released last week.

Also Friday, Oakland waived fullback Henry Poggi. He had signed in May.

Bruce Arians is joining CBS as an NFL game analyst.

Arians, a two-time winner of the AP's Coach of the Year award Matt Paradis Jersey , retired as coach of the Arizona Cardinals in January. He will work with play-by-play announcer Greg Gumbel and analyst Trent Green in a three-man booth.

Arians won the top coaching award in 2012 filling in for Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano, who was recovering from battling leukemia. He also took the honor in 2014 when the Cardinals went 11-5.

"I always hoped that broadcasting would be an option after I retired from coaching as a way to stay involved with this great game," Arians said.

Arians won two Super Bowls as offensive coordinator with the Steelers. He first worked in the NFL in 1989 and also was a head coach at age 30 at Temple Mitch Unrein Jersey , working there from 1983-88.

As revenue goes it barely registers on the books. The NBA probably gets more from the contract with its frozen daiquiri vendor than it does the new deal it inked with casino giant MGM Resorts International.

With good reason. The deal announced with such fanfare Tuesday is arguably little more than a branding exercise – at least for now – and a chance to take baby steps into a sports betting partnership that would have been almost scandalous only a few years ago.

Still Ray Lewis Jersey , the NBA is now officially all in on sports betting. Other leagues will soon, undoubtedly, follow.

And sports may never be the same again.

Forget the image of a shadowy figure in a back room somewhere taking bets over the phone. Indeed, if the bookie you’ve used to make illegal bets over the years hasn’t made plans yet to get into another profession, you might suggest that it’s time.

Things figure to change in Las Vegas, too, if not all that much. Books in this gambling city have already expanded their offerings in recent years to include the in-game betting that the NBA believes will prove the need for its official data.

But the official seal of approval apparently means something, at least to MGM. So Ja'Wuan James Jersey , too, might the official data the league provides at some point in the future.

And now that MGM has a deal with the NBA, surely the NFL and Major League Baseball are going to want in on the action.

Credit NBA commissioner Adam Silver for inking a deal he called ”a leap of faith on both sides.” Silver realized early on that legalized sports betting was an opportunity for the league, not something to fear.

And when his idea of an ”integrity fee” paid to the leagues out of sports betting revenue failed to gain traction in the early adopting states, Silver pivoted to find another way to get a piece of what figures to be a huge revenue stream.

He quickly found the perfect partner in MGM, which might have some ulterior motives of its own. The company wants an NBA team for its new arena on the Las Vegas Strip, and there’s no better way to curry favor with the NBA than ink a deal with the league.

According to Silver and MGM officials, the casino company is buying data. And the party line is that it’s important Patrick Onwuasor Jersey , despite the fact Vegas bookies have prospered for decades without any need for official league statistics.

”I know the value of data,” MGM chairman and CEO James Murren said at a New York press conference with Silver. ”To be able to have the official NBA data for sports bettors around the world is very valuable. I was willing to, and I’ve paid for that.”

The money MGM paid isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, a few million a year over three years, according to reports. But if the NBA can convince other sports betting operations to sign up it could turn into a steady chunk of extra income for the league.

Not exactly the 1 percent of gross income the NBA was seeking from states considering legalizing sports betting, but that effort was going nowhere. In signing a deal to provide unspecified data to casinos, the league gets to profit from betting without getting hands terribly soiled with the actual messiness of it.

And new money is new money.

”This is a whole new world for us,” Silver said.

It’s hard to imagine that it was just a dozen or so years ago when the NFL refused to run an ad promoting Las Vegas on the Super Bowl Mike Alstott Jersey , using the farcical argument that any association with gambling could ruin the league.

With the Supreme Court decision in May opening the door for legalized sports betting across the country, though, all bets are off. Instead of treating sports books like threats, the leagues are looking at them to boost profits.

What they see should have been apparent years ago: Americans want to be able to place a wager or two on their favorite teams, and they don’t feel there’s anything immoral about it.

In a perfect world, the bookies would go at it alone. They wouldn’t partner with the leagues that spent years trying to destroy them.

But for MGM, at least, it’s a marriage of convenience. The casino giant is betting the NBA will help spread its brand Vic Beasley Jersey , and maybe even pave the way for an NBA team in Las Vegas in the near future.

And that’s a bet that just might pay off.

Tim Dahlberg is a national sports columnist for The Associated Press. Write to him at tdahlberg(at)ap.org or New York Jets linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis has been suspended by the NFL for the first game of the regular season without pay for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Pierre-Louis was arrested and charged in January with several misdemeanors, including possession of marijuana, after a traffic stop in suburban Kansas City. In March, he reached a plea deal in which the marijuana possession charge would be dropped if he completes a one-year probation.

Pierre-Louis, signed by the Jets during the offseason, can return to the active roster on Sept. 11. He is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games, but has been sidelined by an undisclosed injury and didn't play against Atlanta on Friday night.

The 26-year-old Pierre-Louis has 84 career tackles in parts of four seasons with Seattle and Kansas City.

— Miami Dolphins 14th-year veteran John Denney first saw his future career path in eighth grade Kyle Emanuel Jersey , when he bent over and looked between his legs.

His coach was putting together a place-kicking team at practice, and Denney volunteered to try out as a long snapper.

“Whoever was interested lined up and started snapping the ball at a tire hanging from the uprights,” Denney said. “Beginner’s luck, I hit the chain holding the tire and it knocked the tire off the chain. At that age, that got everybody in a frenzy.”

Those cheers might still be the loudest Denney ever received for doing his job. All long snappers toil in anonymity — unless they make a mistake, and Denney doesn’t. That’s why he has been with the Dolphins since 2005, four years longer than any other active player.

At 39 he’s among the oldest players in the NFL.

“It has been a ride, that’s for sure,” Denney said following a recent practice. “I would never guess 14 years later I would still be on this field in the same place. I won the lottery.”

Is the hardest part of the job the drudgery of training camp in steamy South Florida?

“For everybody else, yeah,” Denney said with a chuckle. “My position is different.”

That’s for sure. Long snappers spend much of practice off to the side with the place-kickers and punters Michael Hoomanawanui Jersey , often watching and chatting. It’s not bad duty for $1 million a year, which is Denney’s salary this season.

But as with any specialist, there’s pressure. Denney is expected to be nearly 100 percent accurate, and has been. When asked to tabulate the misfires, Dolphins special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi paused to search his memory.

“In my nine seasons with him, I think we had confusion once on a field goal,” Rizzi said Tuesday. “Brandon Fields (the holder) wasn’t looking, and John hit him in the face mask.

“To have to sit here and think about it is a credit to him.”

And while the 6-foot-5, 242-pound Denney doesn’t log as many snaps as an every-down player, he does run downfield under punts, and wins raves for staying in shape.

“The guy is in unbelievable physical condition Davonte Lambert Jersey ,” coach Adam Gase said. “He’s the ultimate pro.”

Denney doesn’t look his age, but he’ll turn 40 in December.

“Wow. I didn’t know he was going to be 40,” said running back Frank Gore, who’s a mere 35. “He does work hard, though. During the offseason he works very, very hard.”

That includes snapping drills. Sometimes Denney recruits his 11- and 13-year-old sons to help, and hikes in the backyard.

Like everything else, practice makes perfect.

“If I give you a ball right now and you look between your legs and everything is upside down, it’s not natural,” Denney said. “It’s a matter of working at it to a point it becomes natural.”

Denney played linebacker and offensive line in high school in Charlotte, North Carolina Randall Cobb Jersey , and was a three-year starter at defensive end for Brigham Young. All the while he groomed his skills as a long snapper, which is how he made the Dolphins’ roster after going undrafted.

He played in every game as a rookie, and each year since he has played in all 16 games — 208 in total. That’s by far a team record for consecutive games, and tied for third among active NFL players.

The streak will likely grow, although Denney has nominal competition in training camp from undrafted rookie Lucas Gravelle. It’s one of the few times the team has brought in another long snapper to compete with Denney, but he said he always feels like he’s fighting for his job.

“Regardless of whether there is another body in camp, they have a list on a board somewhere with the next five best long snappers available,” he said. “It’s not like you’re ever in the clear.”

That accurately describes life in the NFL. As usual, Denney is right on target.

The Arizona Cardinals have tendered offers to exclusive rights free agents defensive lineman Olsen Pierre, offensive lineman John Wetzel, running back Elijhaa Penny and cornerback C.J. Goodwin.

Pierre played in 14 games last season Dave Casper Jersey , seven as a starter. His 5陆 sacks were second on the team to Chandler Jones' NFL-leading 17. Pierre, who worked his way up from the practice squad the past two seasons, had 10 tackles for loss, tied for second-most on the team.

Wetzel appeared in 16 games last season, starting 11 and filling in because of a series of injuries.

Penny played in all 16 Cardinals games last season, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

Goodwin played two games for the Cardinals after being acquired off waivers from Atlanta.

For years, the NFL tried to keep all topics gambling at arm’s length. The perception has changed, and even if it’s not a full-blown embrace yet, it’s clear that attitudes have warmed.

That has happened for the one reason that always moves the NFL 鈥?money.

According to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com, a Nielsen survey commissioned by the聽American Gaming Association estimates gambling could eventually be worth $2.3 billion per year.

The survey of fans projected that the boost would come from increased interest from fans, which translates to higher media rights and sponsorships.

The report’s projections are based on a “fully mature” sports gambling market, which we are years away from at this point. So far Raekwon McMillan Jersey , since a Supreme Court ruling allowed states to make their own gambling policies, four states have opened to sports gambling 鈥斅燚elaware, New Jersey, West Virginia and Mississippi.

Eventually, more states will follow suit, as the potential revenue will climb to the point the league can no longer leave such a pile of money alone.

Cameron Meredith did not participate in team drills Thursday Malcolm Smith Jersey , but Sean Payton said the Saints receiver is “way ahead of schedule” in his return from a knee injury that kept him out all of last season.

“I made a comment to [Saints’ director of sports medicine] Beau [Lowery] two days ago during the walk-through,” Payton said Vinny Curry Jersey , via Amos Morale III of the Times-Picayune. “Just watching him move around and, you guys saw him Aaron Jones Jersey , he’s way ahead of schedule. And certainly where our doctor our doctors had hoped and even better.

“So he’s going to factor in this year. He’s a player that we’ve got a real clear vision for.”

Meredith, who caught 66 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns in 2016 Vernon Hargreaves III Jersey , was injured during the preseason while with the Bears. The Saints signed the restricted free agent to an offer sheet that Chicago declined to match.

He expects to be ready for the start of the season.

The Tennessee Titans are releasing outside linebacker Kevin Dodd, an unceremonious finish for a former second-round pick who never came close to living up this draft position.

The Titans announced Tuesday in a one-sentence release that they plan to cut ties with Dodd Noah Spence Jersey , the 33rd overall pick in the 2016 draft.

This move comes two days after the Titans placed Dodd on the "did not report" list. Dodd also skipped voluntary offseason workouts before reporting to the team's mandatory minicamp in June.

Dodd only reported to the Titans' offseason program in June when staying away would have meant a fine.

Injuries limited Dodd for much of his stay with the Titans. He appeared in only nine games in each of his two seasons with Tennessee. He recorded a total of one sack.

The Titans had much bigger hopes for Dodd when they selected him out of Clemson early in the second round.

Dodd had 12 sacks his junior year at Clemson and recorded 23 陆 tackles for loss to rank second nationally. He capped his Clemson career by delivering five tackles for loss and three sacks against Alabama in the College Football Playoff championship game.

He never approached that production with the Titans and now becomes the first draft bust of general manager Jon Robinson's Tennessee tenure.

Wide receiver Eric Decker said in June that he thinks he’d be a good fit on the Patriots and the Patriots reportedly took a look to see if they agree with him.

Field Yates of ESPN reports that Decker worked out for the Patriots on Monday. Decker made a couple of visits early in free agency Ryan Schraeder Jersey , but it’s been an otherwise quiet market for the veteran.

Decker had 54 catches for 563 yards and a touchdown for the Titans last year.

The Patriots’ look at Decker comes at a moment when they’re a little short on wide receivers. Malcolm Mitchell, Kenny Britt and Jordan Matthews have all been banged up and the team will be without Julian Edelman for the first four weeks of the regular season while he serves a suspension.

Colts tight end Eric Ebron was a draft bust in Detroit Lavonte David Jersey , but he might be ready to make his mark in Indianapolis.

That’s the word after the Colts wrapped up their offseason workouts, and coach Frank Reich said he loved what he saw of Ebron.

鈥淗e鈥檚 really smart Garrett Grayson Jersey ,鈥?Reich said of Ebron, via the Indianapolis Star. 鈥淚 knew that because we did our homework before he got here. We knew he was a smart player. But he鈥檚 like really a highly intelligent football player. And that鈥檚 really good because you want to use a guy with the versatility that he has and move him around and call all kinds of things with him. That helps. And he鈥檚 an explosive athlete.鈥?/p>

The Lions used the 10th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft on Ebron and he was a huge disappointment — especially considering that the 11th pick was Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan D.J. Fluker Jersey , the 12th pick was Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham and the 13th pick was Pro Bowl defensive tackle Aaron Donald. But there’s talent there, and Reich is hoping to get something out of that talent that Jim Caldwell never could.

Breaking his left ankle and having his career put in jeopardy has given New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a new perspective on life and football.

Speaking to reporters here for the first time since getting hurt in a game in early October DeSean Jackson Jersey , Beckham on Saturday was thankful to be back on the field and seemingly more relaxed and more mature.

The 25-year-old said he was not worrying about upcoming contract talks, even though he admits he is taking a calculated risk being in training camp coming off an injury and in the final year of his rookie contract.

"I literally watched my world turn upside down," said Beckham, whose ankle snapped in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Oct. 8. "I watched relationships close to me devour and things go wrong, and things go sideways. It was a lot of pain that I went through the last 10 months.

"So, just kind of taking it day by day and trying my best to just make my mindset every day that I wake up I am going to be happy," the three-time Pro Bowler said. "I am going to do this right. I am going to do the very best that I can in whatever it is, whatever it is I am doing. I changed my mindset and it has helped me a lot in everything."

The 10-month rehabilitation was not only tough, Beckham also had to deal with reports that the Giants were considering trading him and the never-ending social media tweets and video about his life off the field.

Beckham called the trade talk rumor and noise that he has now learned to ignore.

"I remember I used to say all the time: 'Don't take it personal' and stuff, but I still took things personal and I really have gotten that out of my heart to not take anything personal," he said. "And with doing that, it's left things that I used to worry about out of the equation. So, once you can really put that in your heart, don't take it personal and you can feel that Robert Quinn Jersey , it's a completely different story."

Beckham's agent Zeke Sandhu was at the Giants' workout Thursday and was seen speaking to assistant general manager Kevin Abrams for almost two hours on the patio overlooking the field.

Beckham had said he wants to be the highest paid receiver in the game and that has not changed. However, he said he is leaving the contract talks in the hands of his agent and when something happens, it happens. He added if a deal isn't completed before the start of the season, he would cross that bridge at that time.

"I'm confident it'll all work itself out," Beckham said, who is scheduled to make $8.5 million this season. "Life always does."

Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers is considered the highest paid receiver, earning an average $17 million on a four-year deal.

For now, being back on the field is fun. He is enjoying working with coach Pat Shurmur and said the new offense gives him the opportunity to line up in a lot of different spots.

"I love football," Beckham said. "Football was always an (release) for me, it was always how I could get everything out, and just being able to be back out on the field like I said, I remember waking up 4 (o'clock) in the morning and crawling upstairs to my bed and laughing to myself, like this is going to be a hell of a ride for you to get back to where you're at.

"And now I'm here, and there's still a lot more for me to do. It's truly Will Redmond Jersey , I'm just thankful; that God is able to put me back out there," he said.

Since being drafted in the first round in 2014, Beckham has played 47 games and has 313 catches for 4,424 yards and 38 touchdowns.

The 25-year-old Beckham says his rehabilitation was long and painful. He says there were nights he had to crawl up three flights of stairs to get to his bedroom. The three-time Pro Bowler says he has made significant strides in the past two months is still not 100 percent.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers expects swift negotiations to re-sign two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant and coach Steve Kerr.

Durant could sign for as long as four years and about $160 million, and Myers is prepared to give him ”whatever he wants.” Durant has said all along he wants to stay put, especially after winning a pair of championships in his first two seasons with Golden State.

”Sometimes you don’t negotiate. I’d love to have him for 10 years. Kevin Durant, look what he did for us last year, he did us a great service,” Myers said. ”He’s earned the right to sign whatever deal he wants. I just want him to sign a deal. But want him to be happy and want him to know that we want him as long as he wants to be here. He’s earned that, to kind of lay out the terms. He can do whatever he wants. That shouldn’t be a long negotiation. Our goal, to be honest, is to try to keep the whole thing together, so that’s the pieces of the puzzle we’ve got to try to figure out.”

Kerr has one year remaining on his original five-year contract, so he would receive a multiyear extension – and Kerr wants to coach Golden State for the long haul Charles Harris Jersey , perhaps for another decade if he can.

He doesn’t expect any difficulties in getting a deal worked out.

”We’ll get that done pretty quick, I don’t think it’ll be much to it,” Kerr said.

Myers wants to keep as much of the core of the two-time defending champions intact while also realizing the Warriors will be a younger team without the same veteran presence as the group that just swept LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish the finals Friday. Working to try to extend the contracts of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson could be discussed as well.

”Sure, guys have proven they can win so you want to keep that group together,” Myers said. ”I have no idea how that’ll play out. It’s a lot of different conversations that have to take place and if that’s something that we want to look into I’m sure we could have those – Klay’s got another year, Draymond’s got two more. Kevin’s really the free agent we have to focus on.”

After a regular season that was anything but steady, with Stephen Curry limited by injuries to 51 regular-season games, losing seven of 10 late, all four All-Stars out at the same time for health reasons, the Warriors on Tuesday will again host that victory parade in downtown Oakland they planned for all along – their third in four years.

Kerr stayed healthy and on the bench while continuing to deal with symptoms stemming from a pair of back surgeries following the 2015 title.

”I’m sure if you’re around our players and talk to them, they make no bones about it, they love playing for him and they love going through this journey with him,” Myers said of Kerr.

Key reserve David West is contemplating retirement, telling Kerr and Myers during exit interviews he will take some time to decide.

West said after the title clincher that the team went through things behind the scenes that would be surprising if revealed.

”I don’t know if anything would really blow your mind but it was a difficult season and there were lots of moments where it became more difficult Vinny Curry Jersey ,” Kerr said. ”I didn’t think it was anything unusual given the state of our team, what we’ve been through and the length of this journey. Nothing to me was that, like, shocking but yeah we went through some stuff. … For sure this was the toughest of the four (years).”

Myers also downplayed any tension or turmoil that took place privately.

”Certain challenges, some were apparent, some not,” Myers said.

Kerr plans to take it easy for the next several months and not work much as Myers handles the contracts and money, while leaving summer league coaching duties to Willie Green.

It’s still sinking in for Kerr just how much success the Warriors have had during this four-year stretch since he became coach ahead of the 2014-15 season.

”I never could have envisioned this. I know when I took this job I thought we could be really good,” Kerr said. ”I could never have dreamt of three titles in four years. It’s pretty incredible to be a part of the group and the organization.”

Defensive lineman Aaron Donald has skipped the start of the Los Angeles Rams' voluntary offseason workouts.

The Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year wasn't at the Rams' training complex Monday while most of his teammates began strength and conditioning work.

Last season Robert Thomas Jersey , Donald was absent from most of the Rams' offseason program, all of training camp and the preseason while seeking a new contract. He also missed the first game of the regular season after ending his holdout one day beforehand David Sharpe Jersey , yet still produced another dominant season for the NFC West champions.

Coach Sean McVay says Donald's current absence particularly doesn't concern him compared to last year. The Rams and Donald's representatives have been discussing a lavish new contract for many months.

The Chicago White Sox have placed right-hander Nate Jones on the 10-day disabled list with a muscle strain in his forearm.

Manager Rick Renteria says Jones told the team about the issue after he faced three batters during Tuesday night’s 5-1 victory over Cleveland, allowing a hit Darian Thompson Jersey , a walk and recording one out. The veteran reliever got an MRI, and Renteria says the injury is ”very mild.”

Jones is 2-2 with a 4.01 ERA and four saves in 27 appearances this year. Renteria says he will stop throwing for six days and then be re-evaluated.

Chicago also recalled right-hander Juan Minaya from Triple-A Charlotte before Wednesday night’s game against the Indians. Minaya has no record and a 10.80 ERA in five appearances with the White Sox this year.

The theory goes that a playoff series doesn’t officially start until someone wins on the road Danny Shelton Jersey , but the Nashville Predators and Colorado Avalanche are debunking that premise.

The Avalanche beat the Predators 5-3 on Monday night in Game 3 to cut Nashville’s series lead to 2-1. The home team has won all three games and Game 4 is Wednesday in Colorado. While no one has been able to wrest control of the series, the tension has increased with each game.

Things got pretty physical Monday night, with Predators defenseman P.K. Subban delivering a punch to the head of Colorado star Nathan MacKinnon that didn’t draw a penalty but did draw the ire of the Avalanche.

Subban shook off the criticism Tuesday.

“If you’re in the playoffs, physical things are going to happen,” Subban told The Colorado Springs Gazette.

That has been evident in this series, from Nashville center Ryan Johansen’s hit on Colorado defenseman Tyson Barrie in Game 1 to the increased scrums throughout the games. The teams are guaranteed to play a Game 5 in Nashville on Friday night and if the Avalanche can win at home again Alex Anzalone Jersey , there will be a Game 6.

That will only increase the animosity between the Central Division rivals.

“Anytime you play the same team over and over and over again you start to really dislike each other,” Nashville forward Austin Watson said after Game 3. “That’s to be expected in the playoffs. It’s good battles, good intensity out there and it’s fun hockey.”

Colorado’s win on Monday made it a closer series but if the Predators rebound to win Wednesday night, it’ll be tough for the Avalanche to come back against the Presidents’ Trophy winners. Colorado snapped a 12-game losing streak against Nashville without some key players in the lineup, and it might get some reinforcements for Game 4.

Rookie defenseman Samuel Girard, who has missed two games with an upper-body injury Nick Perry Jersey , skated in the optional practice on Tuesday and looks close to returning.

“He’s still day to day,” Colorado coach Jared Bednar said Tuesday. “We’ll see how he is (Wednesday) morning and make some decisions from there. It’s a possibility.”

The Avalanche could use everyone in what’s expected to be an intense charge by Nashville. Colorado has scored first in all three games but Monday was the first time in the series it built on the first goal and took control.

MacKinnon, the team’s leading scorer in the regular season and a Hart Trophy candidate, had two goals, including a highlight-reel one that put the Avalanche up 4-0. It proved to be the game winner after a hard charge by the Predators after falling behind by four.

Colorado’s fast start — four goals in the first 24:25 of the game — ended goaltender Pekka Rinne’s night but he wasn’t the problem, coach Peter Laviolette said.

“We weren’t very good in front of him Cris Carter Jersey ,” he said after the loss. “I didn’t think we were giving him the support he needed. It wasn’t a sharp game for us. We left (him) in after the first to see if we would be better.”

Nashville players said they have to have a better start in Game 4.

“We’re going to have to make a decision in our locker room to do it,” forward Colton Sissons said after Monday’s loss. “We’ve got to be the hungrier team right from the get-go, it’s just a mindset.

“It’s going to be a new test in Game 4. It doesn’t matter how well we played in the third period, we’re going to have to find a way to have a full 60-minute effort and take our best foot forward. It’s a long series.”

The New York Jets have claimed tight end Clive Walford off waivers from the Oakland Raiders.

The Jets announced the move Monday. It provides New York depth at tight end after Austin Seferian-Jenkins recently signed with Jacksonville as a free agent.

Tight ends Eric Tomlinson, Jordan Leggett and Neal Sterling are also on the roster.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Walford had 70 catches for 768 yards and six touchdowns in three seasons with the Raiders after being a third-round draft pick out of Miami in 2015.

He was waived by Oakland last Friday.

After catching 61 passes in his first two NFL seasons David Andrews Jersey , Walford saw limited action in new coordinator Todd Downing's offense last season. Walford missed the last three games with a concussion that landed him on injured reserve. He had just nine catches for 80 yards and no TDs.
